Hello,

first thanks for providing us OpenMQTTGateway!
I am using Rfxtrx433 USB device to monitor various 433Mhz devices with my Domoticz server. I also have Mosquitto running on this server (for Zigbee2MQTT and Tasmotta). It works, but as my home is quite large and as the Rfxtrx is and USB device attached to the server, I have a few problems with some far away devices. My goal is to use several openMQTTGateways in different locations to solve this.

So I flashed esp32dev-rtl_433 on an ESP32 attached to an CC1110 module. it seems to work, but no 433 message is decoded despite at least one of the 433 devices is on my desk neat to the gateway… I think I missed something in setting up the gateway. Anyone to help me? This is my log:

two quick thoughts:

  1. are the devices actually too close, that can overload the receiver.
  2. What device decoders are running?

1 → no, even as they are far, moved a device in the same room to be sure that at least one is near enought.
2 → what do you mean? I use an esp32 (+c1110) flashed with esp32dev-rtl_433.

Hi @Michel

Which specific 433MHz device(s) is it that you want to receive? And are you sure that they are rtl_433 devices, and that decoders for them are included in the rtl_433_ESP library, which the esp32dev-rtl_433 OpenMQTTGateway binary uses? And if so, are they OOK or possibly FSK devices?

Or might they actually be 433MHz devices which require a completely different protocol for decoding, like RCSwitch, KaKu or Pilight - which would require different binaries to be installed?

EDIT Rereading your OP where you mention your USB connected Rfxtrx, it’s most likely the latter case, that your devices are not rtl_433 devices at all;, but require one of the other 433MHz protocols, i. e. a different binary installed on your ESP32/CC1101.

It’d still be good to know exactly which devices your are talking about :wink:

I don’t’ think that rtl_433 has a decoder for the RFX protocol. See Support RFXcom receivers · Issue #1088 · merbanan/rtl_433 · GitHub .
You can see the devices on the Devices page Theengs Compatible BLE devices Not all of those are included in the pre-compiled distribution, so you may have to build your own binary if you can find one that handles RFX, but I couldn’t see any.
I suggest you open another question asking about support for your actual device.
